Welcome to Bujinkan Athlone Dojo teaching Traditional Samurai and Ninja arts in Athlone town, Co.Westmeath since 1996. We are registered instructors with the Japanese Instructors Association (Bujinkan Shidoshi Kai).
The Bujinkan is an international martial arts organization based in Japan and headed by Grandmaster Masaaki Hatsumi. The Bujinkan system comprises of nine separate ryuha, or schools, which are collectively referred to as Bujinkan Budo Taijutsu.
These Schools incorporate the teachings of six Samurai (Jujitsu) schools & three Ninja (Ninjutsu) schools.
Unarmed methods are broken down into the three disciplines:
Taihenjutsu (body movement skills, rolling and break falling)
Dakentaijutsu (striking forms, punching, kicking)
Jutaijutsu (grappling, throwing, limb restraints).
The armed methods include a variety of weapon skills:
• Katana (Sword)
• Hanbo 3 ft stick
• Jo 4 ft stick
• Bo 5.9 ft stick
• Kusari Fundo chain
• Bo Shuriken projectile
